Easiest way to do this is just to google for a while, and if a suitable
answer isn't found, to just ask the question. If you look through those
threads that started with an actual question, in most cases it is
answered, from visas to travel to work related issues etc.

The only other thing I can think of is to give some background and
context when asking a question, and observe the usual netiquette for
usenet.

Thread drift is somewhat inevitable, but if there are any irritating
posters you can easily screen them using the killfiles of your
newsreader.
