I'd forgotten this option; I've used winscp before and found it to be
decently reliable. This might work. I've got Win 2000 Server on my
machine (and ME and 98), so this wouldn't be too complicated. I could
even set up a routine on his machine which will move the files and,
when complete, delete them.

I'll see if he's comfortable with this. Ideally he won't need to do
much, just set the DVR like he normally does and I have access to the
folder where the programs are recorded.
