Tax deduction for cars?
Does anybody know how the Japanese tax office handles the tax deduction for
new vehicles purchased by a company?
My accountant tells me that items above 300,000 yen can be deducted at a
rate of 100,000 per year. I can understand that with normal office machines
and such but not with cars. Most of these vehicles won't run more than 5
years before being replaced. And if it is a truck, only a fraction of it can
be deducted before it gets junked.
Could it be that the accountant was generalizing it?
I'd like to get confirmation from somebody who has already gone through this
one. Accountants and some tax officials can't be always trusted since they
have expressed their opinions that turned out to be nothing more than
assumptions.
