After all, in The American Revolution, if G. Washington, B. Franklin, T. Jefferson et al. had not won, they would have been executed as traitors. They had had enough, and overthrew the king. Many of them were comfortable already, financially. But they were not satisfied. They craved independence. Many who support (or did support) Bush and Cheyney know that they have lied and misled their people. However, they are still comfortable, no obvious break-points have been reached, and as long as things can limp along a while longer, they ARE satisfied. Independence? Who cares? Indifference and complacency rule, as they did in ancient Cambodia, as they did in the corrupt days at the end of the Roman Empire, as they did in Czarist Russia, and many other times and places. All an intelligent person can do is to sound the alarm, keep sounding it, and point out workable alternatives. Many legislators are working right now to slow down and mitigate the damage that this administration is doing. Right now this admin. is trying to change basic Senate rules to turn the Senate into a rubber stamp, and, along with radical judicial appointments, completely undermine the basic constitutional premise of "checks and balances" meant to keep each branch of the Fed. Gov't independent, and to prevent a dictatorship. Support the Senators doing this, like Sen. Leahy, Sen. Biden, Sen. Kennedy, and others. The radicals are going for the gold, intending to forever subvert the basic legal foundations of our government. Or the Capitol will be Ankor Wat. tesseract
