DESTRUCTION OF A CIVILIZATION
I recently visited Angkor in Cambodia and strongly recommend it to
travelers who care about the environment, the civilization, and the
survival of mankind.
It was true amazing how a great civilization at one time in the past
that was destroyed literally to the ground and taken over by the
jungle. The painful lesson learned by the people of Angkor 1,500 years
ago has long been forgotten: destruction of the environment led to
deadly disasters that destroyed the entire civilization. Angkor was a
megalopolis, according to archaeologists, flourished to a point where
resources were over-exploited. The abuse of deforestation led to severe
natural disasters such as killer floods that wiped out the
infrastructure. Consequently, the economic impact led to war and
killings among the people. Eventually, the growing destruction caused
by wars consumed the remaining resources. And this quickly led to the
end of the Angkor civilization. Today I stood on the ruins of a once
great, lively, and thriving city.
With the voracious consumption habits of industrialized countries like
the USA - and soon China, we are heading down the same road the people
of Angkor once took - the road toward extinction. The big question:
given the current state of socio-economic and political affairs, can
this civilization sustain itself? While I do not have the answer to
this question, I certainly feel that the US is dashing in the wrong
direction with the leadership of the Republican government headed by
the world-class moron G. W. Bush. The world knows how reckless and
exploitive and irresponsible Bush has been toward the environment
issues and natural resources (withdraw from Kyoto treaties, oil
drilling in the arctic wildlife refuse, and his current oil venture in
Iraq). Bush, his neo-con masters, and evil industries have disregarded
all ethical rules and moral standards to launch destructive business
ventures around the globe, just to satisfy their endless greed and
hunger for power. Compromising national security and dignity, lying to
the people, scarifying innocent lives, corrupting foreign governments,
and raping the constitutions are among the great achievements G. W.
Bush and his boss Dick "Shithead" Cheney have made in their
lifetime. Unfortunately their achievements benefit only the privileged
few Bush affectionately regarded as "the have and the have more"
- not the ordinary people like you and I.
Therefore, in the interests of the people on Earth, it is proposed that
Bush and his evil cronies to be neutralized, hunted down, smoked out,
tried, and executed one by one for their terrorism and crimes against
humanity. Only then world would have any hope to survive and only then
the true sense of freedom and democracy could be once again enjoyed by
all people - not just the top 1% of the capitalist pyramid.
