We welcome everyone to join our workshops.

*Our Goals:

  - We acquire sophisticated English proficiency,
    - not only reading and writing skills,
    - but also listening and speaking skills.

  - Using English as a tool, we broaden our knowledge such as
    - Current News.
    - Traditionally controversial topics.
    - Cultural differences, etc.

*Our Policy:

  - The Official Language is English.
  - Any nationality is welcome.

*Introduction:

 ESJ is a face-to-face and verbal-communication-oriented club. Now its
 regular meetings are to be held two or three times a month in Osaka,
 where the ESJ Founder lives. In the meetings a member picks up a
 topic and attendees discuss about it. Through discussions on various
 topics we achieve our goals - to acquire excellent English skills and
 wide variety of knowledge.

 According to the ESJ's Policy, the official language is English. All
 members are supposed to understand English. We don't assume that all
 members understand other languages including Japanese.


*Suitable candidates for Membership are like those who:

 - Want to be as good an English speaker as well-educated native speakers.
 - Scored higher than 860 of TOEIC (or equivalent), which does not
   satisfy your needs at all.
 - Have studied in a foreign university or lived in a foreign country,
   and want to maintain your English ability.  
 - Have had enough Everyday Conversations and want to enjoy higher-
   skill-required communications such as a topic-specific discussion.
 - Are planning to go to a foreign university in the future and need to 
   improve your skills.
 - Are Well-educated Native-speakers who have some patience. :-)
 - Are not listed above but a serious learner.

*The Founder's Profile:

 TOEIC Score: 900.

 I have a life-time goal. It's secret here, but for that dream I have
 learned English seriously. Now I need more opportunities to speak
 English and I founded this club. 

 Here is another reason. I like traveling around the world. Actually I
 have been to over 30 countries. I have visited Central and South
 America and even the Antarctica, other than Western Europe and North
 America. (Well, from these experiences I knew English was not as
 international a language as I had expected.)

 I have read more than 150 books for English learners which are listed
 in Oxford Bookworms Library series and Penguin Readers series, and
 more than 40 books for native speakers such as the Alchemist, The Da
 Vinci Code, Murder on the Orient Express and The catcher in the rye as
 well as a newspaper, the Japan Times. I also dictate a Radio English
 Program on every weekday to develop my listening skill. 

 I am looking forward hearing from you and seeing you.
